The other day I asked Linda Thompson, Certified Balanced Body Mat Pilates instructor and Barre instructor why she likes Barre? I’m not talking about the Bar where you can get a drink but an amazing workout for all levels and body types at the pilates studio.
Why Barre Linda?
” I love how it incorporates the same philosophy that is utilized in the mat and equipment Pilates. Barre strengthens, improves posture and mobility. The Barre program starts with the strength of the feet, establishing a stable base and then incorporating the movements for the the rest of the body. It is graceful, yet it can be aerobic, depending on the type of Barre class and the instructor. For this reason, Barre is appealing to all ages and skill levels.”
I started taking Barre classes at Rudy’s Gym two years ago as a supplement to my mat Pilates and Pilates apparatus training. My body feels longer and leaner; I enjoy the opportunity to feel like a dancer! Barre has helped me focus on my form as I do Pilates work. It is a wonderful addition to a Pilates program!”
When and who did you get certified with?
“After gaining my Mat and Reformer training, I decided I wanted to also incorporate Balanced Body Barr training. I learned from the best, Angelie Melzer a former Ballerina and Balanced Body Faculty instructor. She has been teaching Pilates since 1988. ”
When will you teach Barre and where?
“I will teach a Balanced Body Barre Class on Saturdays at 8:00 a.m. at a special discounted price for $5.00 a class for members, $10.00 for non-members. This class will be fun, and great way to get a full body workout for all levels. Barre classes with Linda will start Saturday, January the 8th at 8:00 a.m.”
